Zambia's Consumer Association is raising concerns about the growing presence of suspected counterfeit and substandard cosmetics and personal-care products on the local market. The products include lotions, creams and perfumes, with fears that some could cause serious skin reactions and other health problems.

Of particular concern is the use of misleading packaging, labelling and branding that closely imitates established and recognised products, potentially causing consumers to believe they are buying genuine products when they are not. ZACA is calling for stronger inspections and enforcement to protect consumers.
