The Supreme Court of appeal in South Africa (SA) has dismissed with costs the appeal by the Road Accident Fund (RAF) against a High Court ruling that confirmed that undocumented foreign nationals can claim from the Fund.

Section 17(1) of the RAF Act uses the words any person which the court found does not exclude undocumented foreign nationals.

Members of the Zimbabwe Nurses Association have opted for a 72-hour stay-away instead of planned public demonstrations amid claims that nurses were intimidated and discouraged from protesting publicly.

The stay-away, however, is already raising serious concerns about its impact on patient care, with fears that disruptions in services could put lives at risk.

The government, on the other hand, maintains that limited revenue collection and budget constraints make it difficult to meet the demands of civil servants, including healthcare workers.

Ethiopia has announced that it foiled a large-scale terrorist plot aimed at destabilising the country ahead of its upcoming general elections. Authorities say weapons, explosives, and funding channels were found.

The National Election Board of Ethiopia has confirmed that more than 46 million voters have registered for the June 1 polls, out of a population of around 130 million. With thousands of polling stations prepared and registration extended to boost participation, the focus now shifts to whether Ethiopia can deliver a credible, inclusive, and secure election.
