South Africa's Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has announced that, in the next few weeks, the country will launch a campaign to eliminate cervical cancer using the global strategy adopted by the World Health Organisation. Cervical Cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among South African women, with over 11,000 cases and nearly 6,000 deaths annually.  According to the World Health Organisation Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women globally.  The highest rates of cervical cancer incidence and mortality are in low- and middle-income countries.
