As US-Israel war rages on in Iran, are Americans in support of Washington's involvement

View descriptionShare

The war between Iran, Israel and the United States continues to escalate, with the risk of a wider Middle East conflict growing. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel's military offensive against Iran is "not done yet," insisting the campaign is weakening Iran's clerical leadership. The war began on 28 February when Israel and the United States launched strikes inside Iran that reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — just days before planned negotiations between Washington and Tehran. Iran has retaliated with missile and drone strikes across the region, while Saudi Arabia has condemned attacks on Gulf states and warned it reserves the right to respond. Some pundits say "Trump's War on Iran Makes a Mockery of American Democracy." While French President Emmanuel Macron says it will take a lot more than missiles to defeat Iran. Does the war with Iran represent a democratic and constitutional crisis in US foreign policy, driven by executive power, weak public support, and a lack of effective domestic opposition?
