The leader of the National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique, Venâncio Mondlane, has weighed in on the June 30 demonstrations amid growing debates around immigration and regional responsibility.

As anti-immigration groups call for undocumented migrants to leave South Africa, Mondlane argues that African leaders themselves are responsible for the current migration pressures. He says the issue lies not with migrants, but with what he describes as “broken countries” across the continent.

To discuss this further, Mr Mondlane spoke to Mpho Sithole.
