Cameroon's security landscape is drawing renewed attention following a series of high-level military appointments announced by President Paul Biya. 

On Monday, the long-serving leader signed several decrees reshaping the leadership of the country's Defence Forces, with the most notable change being the appointment of Brigadier General Beko'o Abondo Raymond Jean Charles as the new Commander of the Presidential Guard.

These developments come at a time when questions continue to circulate about President Biya's visibility and presence in the country, adding further intrigue to what these changes could signal politically and within the military establishment.
