In this special solo episode of Access Granted, Lowanna Grant reflects on the significance of National Reconciliation Week 2026 and this year's theme, All In.

Drawing on her experiences as a First Nations journalist, Lowanna explores what Reconciliation really means in Australia today, why the responsibility for Reconciliation belongs to all Australians.

She discusses the ongoing impact of racism on First Nations people, the dangers of casual racism disguised as humour, the recent controversy surrounding a racist viral video and the abuse faced by Elders performing Welcome to Country ceremonies.

Lowanna also shares a personal perspective on the racism experienced by First Nations journalists, including the impact racism has had on her family through the experiences of her father, journalist Stan Grant.

Raised in Katherine in the Northern Territory, Jake opens up about navigating culture, mental health and the pressure of trying to fit an image of who he thought he was supposed to be. From mainstream media to meaningful advocacy work, he reflects on using his platform to create conversations that centre wellbeing, representation and connection.

Jake also shares the personal journey behind becoming an ambassador for R U OK?, the impact of vulnerability and why storytelling has the power to change lives. The episode closes with a heartfelt discussion about his debut children’s book 'Brave Like Bunji' a story about belonging, courage and showing your true colours with pride.
