Yandiswa Xhakaza is an avid educationalist and has committed her life to solving complex social problems. She believes education is one of the most powerful ways through which people can be uplifted from poverty.

Xhakaza is the co-founder and former Head of the Arrow Academy which she started in 2016 which enrolls just over 300 children and 32 staff members.

Her recent appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nal’ibali Trust has inspired her to draw from her personal childhood experiences of being exposed to substandard education which she believes is the biggest disservice we can do to the youth of South Africa. She is passionate about the power and possibilities embedded in the simple art of storytelling stating that children who are surrounded and immersed in great and well-told stories in languages they understand, are more curious, confident, and motivated to learn, ensuring holistic success.

In this episode of the #987Woman Leadership Conversations Podcast Series, she takes us on a journey of her story, a story of a big appetite for learning and the desire to transform the education system, to afford every child equal opportunity to knowledge and success.
