Group Therapy Thursday

View descriptionShare

It's Group Therapy Thursday time!

Dear Ted and Amy,
I’m a bridesmaid in one of my best friend’s weddings this summer. I’ve known her since high school and she’s always been one to go big or go home. I am fully ready to expect big moments - outfit changes – all of it. Her groom to be seems to love that about her and her friends know that we’ll just be background bridemaids that day and our main job is to make her shine. But now she’s told us her latest idea. Between the ceremony and the reception, she wants to cut off about 10 inches of her hair. Like a full dramatic chop. Then she wants to make a grand entrance at the reception — by herself — without her husband or wedding party - revealing the new haircut. Part of me is like “you go girl” but another part of me is thinking this could go totally wrong. And isn’t this about BOTH of them? Like she really doesn’t want the spotlight to be on their new marriage, not just her? The day is already going to be chaotic. Does she really want to do something that could throw it all off or maybe make her not want to show her face? I want to be supportive but how should I tell her that this may be going a step too far?
Signed,
Too Far in Fairmount
