Blacktown Hospital is receiving 30 additional patient beds by the end of the year following a 7 News investigation that revealed multiple deaths and patients waiting for hours on emergency department floors. With 1,200 beds across New South Wales blocked by aged care patients, the state and federal governments are at odds over funding solutions, while doctors forecast a tripling of emergency department services in coming years. The Opposition is calling for immediate temporary bed solutions including transition lounges and partnerships with hotels.
