Over to the east of the Metro area, DFO Centre Manager, Leanne Smith told Chrissy Morrissy, 'Boxing Day is our biggest trading day but we have extensive traffic management around out centre.'

Boxing Day and the next two weeks are the busiest time of the year for vets helping dogs and cats who have found themselves in trouble.

Dr Jackie Robb from Port City Emergency Vets told Chrissy Morrissy on 6PR, 'This is our busiest two-week period.'

'We just see a lot more injuries, a lot more traumas, a lot more mischief around Christmas,' Dr. Robb continued.

'Whats important is that its going to save us money, and it will prevent a lot of things from going into landfill,' Gbor continued.
