If you find yourself wide awake later tonight, you might want to take a quick gander at the night sky. That’s because you are likely to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Local astronomer Gary Boyle joins Kristy Cameron to explain further. Meantime, Statistics Canada has unveiled its latest batch of jobs data. On the bright side, more than 90,000 jobs were added in the month of April. However, this could delay some long-awaited interest rate cuts. We deliver the details in Hour 3. Over countless years, families of children with autism have leaned on a pair of local organizations for support. Sadly, both of those lifelines are now closing their doors for good. Kristy Cameron chats with Brenda Reisch, who is the Executive Director of Children at Risk here in Ottawa. She is also the loving mother of Ian, a young man who has been diagnosed with Autism himself. Meantime, a new species of lice is creating headaches for Canadian schools. Fittingly named ‘super lice’, this breed has become more resistant to our country’s over-the-counter remedies. We dig deeper with Shwanda Walker, the founder of a head lice removal company in North York, Ontario.

That is what Mayor Mark Sutcliffe said last June, as City Council approved a three-item garbage limit. In about 4 months, this brand-new curbside garbage policy will be kicking in, an effort to help extend the lifespan of the Trail Road dump. Duncan Bury, the co-founder of Waste Watch Ottawa, explains why this strategy remains a useless endeavour. Later in Hour 1, CTV’s Katie Griffin delivers the tragic details on Thursday’s scary car crash in Sharbot Lake. One person has died, while five others are being treated for injuries following the now-fatal rollover.
