Why rain gardens could help lessen the impact of Ottawa's intense storms

View descriptionShare

Two months since the Canada Day flooding, and conversations continue to spark ideas about how to avoid a similar scenario from happening again. For instance, Carleton University has run simulations involving engineered rain gardens, and whether these devices could be a drainage capacity difference-maker for high-risk flooding areas. Jennifer Drake is a Carleton University Associate Professor and the Canada Research Chair in Stormwater and Low Impact Development. She joins guest host Chris Holski on CFRA's Ottawa At Work.
