Welcome to this week’s edition of City In Review – a Saturday subsection of CFRA Weekends. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent is steering the ship. And here is what we are following!
The Week In Review
OCH purchases 503 rental units from Minto – the largest acquisition in its history
Ottawa Community Housing says it has purchased over 500 rental units in Nepean’s South Centrepointe neighbourhood. The 503 units include townhomes on 73 blocks and two apartment buildings – the largest acquisition in its history. Cliff Youdale, the Chief Development Officer with Ottawa Community Housing, spoke with City In Review about the acquisition and what it means.
Election issues: Economy, infrastructure, property taxes
The economy is one of the primary issues that entered the municipal campaign trail this week, as the Ottawa Board of Trade released its priorities for the city's next leaders. According to Ottawa Board of Trade CEO Sueling Ching, those top priorities are housing, infrastructure, and transportation. As for Ottawa’s mayoral race, the key topics this week boiled down to property taxes, infrastructure, and a potential infrastructure levy. CFRA Ottawa Now host Kristy Cameron discusses these political and financial issues with City In Review host Andrew Pinsent.
