Nanos Poll on the election and public transit

Exclusive municipal election poll numbers for CTV Ottawa have been released over the past week. Nanos Research founder and pollster Nik Nanos spoke to 580 CFRA about his key takeaways.

Meantime, public transit was raised as the top city service for improvement by the majority of residents. Outgoing Chair of the Transit Committee Glen Gower spoke to Andrew Pinsent about the numbers on Tuesday. The voice of Stittsville Ward – who is not seeking re-election after two terms at City Hall – said the service still has its challenges, but has also seen improvements. When talking about its biggest structural need, however, Gower says it all comes back to funding.

City Issues Panel

CTV Ottawa and Newstalk 580 CFRA hosted a Mayoral Debate this week, as the Top 4 polled candidates took part in 90 minutes of political gamesmanship. The debate, and new polling numbers, are the topic of discussion in this week’s City Issues Panel. Andrew Pinsent is joined alongside Ottawa Citizen columnist Brigitte Pellerin and former City Hall reporter Jon Willing.

Candidate Corner

City In Review has been speaking to, and profiling, as many of the 14 mayoral candidates as possible before the October 26th election. This week, Peter Westaway discussed why he decided to run for Ottawa’s biggest seat.
