Canada’s Capital has become a hockey powerhouse over the years, but did you know that the same place that houses Canada’s Parliament has become a North American hub for ‘bike polo’? CFRA’s Maryanne McLarty paid a visit to Little Italy to learn more about this sport. Then, we check in with Gavin Simmons-Feigel, the main organizer for Ottawa Bike Polo and a prominent figure in the ‘Mallets Of Mayhem’ Club. Meantime, Kaladar Avenue will be serving as the backdrop for tonight’s ‘cheeseburger picnic’, and a familiar name from a Canadian classic will be conducting the chaos. Randy from the Trailer Park Boys, known legally as Patrick Roach, will be dropping by Overflow Brewing Company to share some stories and laughs. Plus, the 43rd CHEO Telethon has raised over $600,000 in support of Ottawa’s children’s hospital. It comes on the heels of a two-week campaign to raise money and awareness for CHEO. Ahead of Saturday’s Telethon, Andy caught up with CHEO Foundation President and CEO Steve Read. You’ll hear that conversation on today’s broadcast.
