1. Flood damage could soon fuel a full redesign of Moodie Station, with the Western LRT Extension set to open next year. However, there are many balls still up in the air, according to OC Transpo General Manager Rick Leary.
2. The Insurance Bureau of Canada says the early-July storms caused $439 million in insured damages across Ontario and Quebec. Here at home, the Ottawa-specific damages are still being assessed.
3. City Council has approved additional flood relief measures. In a recent memo, the City Manager says that the flood response report will be audited by a third-party.
4. Canada-USA Trade War: Ottawa City Council re-iterates tariff supports and takes other steps involved with a new Ottawa-Gatineau agreement.
5. Trump Avenue is back in the spotlight – and we aren’t talking about America’s White House. We are talking about the name of a street in Canada’s Capital. But if the councillor for River Ward gets his way, that might not be the case for much longer. Do you support a potential name change?
6. The municipal election campaign is officially open – and it features a whopping 14 mayoral candidates. But on Day 1, the topic of conversation that got most of their attention was a return-to-office pitch.
7. City Hall aims to develop a framework for future proposals of large A.I. data centres.

River Ward councillor Riley Brockington did not hold back his feelings about the Canada-USA trade war, especially the recent escalations on the American side. So now, he's taking aim at a street sign in his neighbourhood.

City Issues Panel

As the municipal election campaign ramps up, government return-to-office mandates sparked a reaction from the top mayoral candidates this week. Jeff Leiper said, if elected, he would reverse the municipal mandate and lobby the feds to reverse course. We dig deeper with the City Issues Panel – a featured staple for the Saturday lineup moving forward.
