The Eastern extension of Ottawa’s LRT has hit a key milestone, and is now one step closer to its long-awaited grand opening. It has achieved what OC Transpo calls ‘substantial completion’. In other words, the service is built and the infrastructure is there. And now, in theory, the municipality could begin testing protocols. However, we don’t know exactly when the trial runs will begin, as Line 1 is still operating at a reduced capacity due to January’s spalling issues.
