The kids are back to school and the parents are back to packing school lunches. And here in Ontario, schools are expected to be prepared for life-threatening allergies. Sabrina’s Law requires school boards to have an anaphylaxis policy – a measure to help students with serious allergies. At the same time, it doesn’t require the schools themselves to have EpiPens on hand. In fact, the only province that requires this tool in all public schools, regardless of student needs, is Alberta. Allergy Canada says that reality needs to change, and it needs to change now. Are we winning the war on peanut allergies?
