Ottawa Now – Restaurant owner feels ‘targeted’ after Little Italy location loses right to sell takeout alcohol

View descriptionShare

An Ottawa-based restaurant owner is fighting for the right to regain his license to sell takeout alcohol. Previously, Tony Zacconi’s business was allowed to do so, only to be denied that privilege by the ACGO because his establishment was located inside of a grocery store. The owner of Little Italy’s Mercato Zacconi is disputing that claim, citing the current rules as seemingly objective and nonsensical. Should restaurants inside grocery stores be permitted to sell wine? Do we need to loosen the red tape around alcohol sales in Ontario? Tony joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
