Petrie Island Canoe Club says they might have to shutter their doors by November 1st due to financial strain. The club says the cost to build their new boathouse ended up being more than double the amount that was listed in the project’s initial estimates – a curveball that crippled their finances and has left them in a difficult spot. In the meantime, they’ve launched a short-term fundraising campaign in the hopes of keeping the lights on for a little while longer.
