A local MPP's proposal to kick out misbehaving city councillors who violated workplace harassment policies has been laid to rest at Queen’s Park. Bill 5 passed the First Reading earlier this year, as over 150 municipalities called on the Ford government to enact this legislation. On Wednesday, it was ‘lost in division’ and eventually rejected during the Second Reading. Stephen Blais is a former Ottawa city councillor and the current Liberal MPP for Orleans. He calls it a major misstep by the province and fears how it could impact today’s women in politics.
