Canada’s military released a disturbing report into the conditions of five long-term care homes in Ontario earlier this week, generating calls for immediate change. Here in Ottawa, 250 residents and staff at Carlingview Manor have tested positive for COVID-19. Fifty-three of those 250 people have died. Bay Ward councillor Theresa Kavanagh is calling on the province to take over management of the long-term care facility, saying the situation has gotten out of control.
