The endless downpour cancelled a string of Canada Day activities and left over 3,200 basements flooded. Less than a week later, lots of basements in Canada's Capital are still waterlogged. In fact, many are still waiting to hear from their insurance providers about the next steps they should take. Is there any way that homeowners and businesses can expedite that process? And in the case of a significant weather event, what should you do if you’re waiting around in a waterlogged property? Rob de Pruis is the National Director of Consumer and Industry Relations at the Insurance Bureau of Canada. He joins Kristy Cameron on today's Ottawa Now.
