Ottawa Now - Former U.S. Ambassador to Canada encourages American officials to repair the damaged relationship
The balance of power in both the U.S. Congress and the U.S. Senate has shifted from Republican Red to Democrat Blue. And it was a clear-as-crystal directive to the Big Cheese. And in Maine, after spending nearly 30 years in the U.S. Senate, Susan Collins has been kicked out of her seat. Americans are not happy with Donald Trump’s leadership. They want to see change ahead of the 2028 U.S. Election. What does this mean for Canada’s bargaining position in the trade war? Does this Democratic victory on Tuesday give us any leverage? Either way, a former U.S. Ambassador to Canada says the Americans have damaged their relationship with their closest neighbour, and he wants the new U.S. Congress to start repairing bridges the day it takes office in January.
