According to a recent survey by the Convenience Industry Council of Canada, the Ford government’s expansion of alcohol sales has been a ‘real game-changer’ for today’s convenience stores. It has driven higher foot traffic and replaced the lost revenue that was caused by a decline in cigarette sales. Furthermore, the survey found that revenue on all products in Ontario’s convenience stores was up 12 percent this September compared to last Fall, while revenues have increased by 33 percent year-over-year during long weekends.
