A hockey arena, a concert venue, a football stadium, and a handful of other amenities were up for discussion at Ottawa City Hall today, as City Council prepared to vote on the future of Lansdowne Park. A long-term vision for the site, known as Lansdowne 2.0, has received mixed reviews from both supporters and critics, with councillors just as divided on how to proceed. Mayor Mark Sutcliffe had previously talked about the importance of building a medium-sized music venue at the Bank Street beacon, all part of an effort to pull in musical acts that might normally bypass Ottawa. That opinion is echoed by Ken Craig, a longtime local promoter and a former Vice-President of Live Nation Canada. He was one of the 88 delegates who vocalized their opinions on the project, a gameplan that he supports. Craig joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
