New camera technology deployed in Brampton has aided Peel Police in over 200 investigations within the past year. The municipality has installed 360-degree high-resolution cameras, along with automated license plate recognition technology, at 50 intersections. The price tag comes in at $2 million. The cameras come from Genetec Incorporated – a Canadian security technology company – and they can read license plates with a nearly full field of vision.
