The Bank of Canada has raised its key interest rate for the first time in 3 years, now standing at 2.5 percent as we head into November. BOC Governor Tiff Macklem is citing the Iran War and rising oil prices as primary reasons behind the decision, but the Canada-USA trade war probably doesn’t help matters. And it might not be the only rate hike we see before 2026 draws to a close. How have you been handling the economic uncertainty lately? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Meantime, as the return-to-office mandate proceeds, Outaouais family doctors are speaking out against a sharp rise in consultations from healthy employees looking to get prescribed remote work. They are seeking RTO exemptions, and a reduction of hours spent in the office. In Hour 3, we check in with Dr. Karine Lemyre, a family physician based in Gatineau.

The 2026 Municipal Election is now over, and everyone is getting set to get back to work. For the 3 newest faces of Ottawa City Council, they will spend the next several weeks preparing for the next 4-year chapter. Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, who reclaimed his seat at the table, tells CTV Ottawa he is ready to hit the ground running in his second term. But first, there is one City Council meeting left on the November schedule, as the old guard waves goodbye. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Meantime, the days are getting shorter and the nighttime skies are getting longer, as we turn the clocks back one hour on Sunday. Daylight Savings Time begins at 2AM Sunday morning – a practice that most of Ontario still follows. However, more Canadian provinces are not taking that approach, and rumblings suggest that it might be the final time that Quebec does it. Here in Ontario, Premier Doug Ford has said in the past they won’t go down that road unless New York does. We dig deeper with Dr. Elliott Lee, a sleep specialist and Associate Professor at the Sleep Disorder Clinic at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. Plus, nearly $6 million has been donated to repair 24 Sussex Drive. The Rideau Hall Foundation starting this initiative over the Summer, but how’s it really doing? CFRA’s Chris Holski has more on that.
