Ottawa At Work - Dozens of Ontario farming communities fear losing business due to Canada's new high-speed train line - March 4, 2026

View descriptionShare

The federal government has backed plans to build a rail capable of travelling 30km/h between Toronto and Quebec City, a project that could lead to the most expropriations of any project in Canadian history. However, dozens of Ontario farming communities are fearing for what's next and what this means for their businesses and land. Gibbs Honey is a 110-acre, third generation apiary just outside of Vankleek Hill and their bees produce up to 30,000 pounds of honey each year. Co-Owner, Andrea Glenn joins Andrew Pinsent to address her concerns with high speed rail possibly impacting her community and business.
