'Not surprised at all': Outgoing transit committee chair Gower on transit being top election priority

We begin Hour 4 with an update on a vicious attack on a child last year – and a disclaimer that the contents of this story are deeply disturbing for listeners of all ages. It happened in the small rural town of Quadeville in the Ottawa Valley. The teenager charged in connection with the attack has pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual assault. CTV’s Katelyn Wilson joins Kristy Cameron with the latest developments. Then, we preview tonight’s CTV Ottawa supper-hour newscast with Jackie Perez. And if news breaks in real time, you’ll hear it live on CFRA’s Ottawa Now.

We are entering the final days of the 2026 Municipal Election! City Council candidates are hard at work, making their final elevator pitches tonight and into the weekend. So are Ottawa’s Mayoral candidates. Heading into Monday’s last call, do you have a final decision made up? If not, what’s keeping you hung up? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Meantime, the Head of Canada Post says it is showing ‘early signs’ of a financial recovery, despite falling revenue and bigger losses in the first half of 2026. Should we believe the hype? Ian Lee, a Professor at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business, joins us in Hour 3 with his two cents. He is also a former Canada Post employee.

Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Fri. October 23rd, 2026

Ontario's former Tourism Minister – Conservative MPP Stan Cho – has been hired as a Provincial Parliamentary Assistant just months after he resigned his previous post over a spending scandal. Cho had faced intense levels of scrutiny for claiming $16,000 in Toronto hotel stays – even though he lives nearby. And now, he will be assisting Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra. CTV Toronto Queen’s Park Bureau Chief Siobhan Morris joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. On a lighter note, if you want to spend some of your hard-earned money on some movies and popcorn, Matt Demers has got you covered with his Weekly Movie Picks! Fair warning: It’s Halloween time, so most of these options might be horror-related.
