We can’t say the same for the Ontario community of Amherstburg, as residents brace for a major economic hit in 2026. A bottling plant, which accounts for a healthy chunk of the town’s employment numbers, is planning to shutter its doors in February. And according to Mayor Michael Prue, that plant could be moving its operations to the United States, mainly due to the back-and-forth tariffs between North America’s biggest neighbours.
