As Canadians react to the 2025 Federal Budget, today’s Question of the Day has quickly shifted to a Budget Day footnote. A Conservative MP from Nova Scotia has crossed the floor to join the Carney Liberals, which puts the Red Team just 2 seats shy of a majority government. And while it might be a rare instance for any government, over 300 MPs have made this move since Confederation. Right now, the Liberals need support from another party to pass the budget and avoid a snap election. Recruiting MPs from other parties could solve that problem. But for Canadians who voted for a specific party-led vision, incidents of floor-crossing could become a dealbreaker for an MP’s future support. Is it a dealbreaker to you? First, we hear from CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent. Then, we turn things over to the mighty CFRA Nation, as Kristy Cameron sifts through the textboard.
