Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Tues. September 15th, 2026

View descriptionShare

Day 2 of the Canada Investment Summit continues in Toronto today. It’s a message from Prime Minister Carney to the world-at-large: Canada is open for business. Facing a series of devastating tariffs, the pressure is on Canada to forge new relationships, and to bring in new money. That being said, $1 trillion is quite the ambitious ask. Today, we are getting more intel on the Prime Minister’s gameplan, as the feds intend to privatize operations at Canada’s four largest airports. Up until now, these airports have been run by non-profits on government-owned land. And soon, the money raised by private investments will be re-invested into infrastructure. Do you have concerns with opening Canada’s public institutions to private investors? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Meantime, a group of community organizations are calling on city councillor and mayoral candidates to support lowering OC Transpo fares and creating bus-only lanes on major transit corridors. The groups have launched the Transit Action Network – a new city-wide network aimed at making ‘better, more affordable, and more reliable public transit’ a central issue in the campaign. We dig deeper in Hour 3 with Laura Shantz, a board member with Ottawa Transit Riders.
