Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. November 7th, 2024

View descriptionShare

Hundreds of Barrhaven residents gathered on Tuesday night to protest a City of Ottawa proposal, which would install tent-like structures to shelter as much as 300 asylum seekers. Each tent would have a capacity of 150, filled with people who are either fleeing war or persecution. And while there is no final decision on the tent’s location, it is causing a fair bit of controversy within the suburban community. Barrhaven East councillor Wilson Lo joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Speaking of encampments, Gatineau Police have torn down a setup near the Robert Guertin Arena, with eviction notices in hand. CTV’s Katie Griffin delivers the details. Plus, while a skyrocketing social media app is allowed to continue its general operations in Canada, the feds have told TikTok to pull the plug in several other departments.
