Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. May 23rd, 2024

View descriptionShare

Employees of Algonquin College’s Hairstyling and Esthetics programs recently received a disturbing memo about the program’s uncertain future. According to an email from the Dean, a recommended suspension of these courses is up for debate at the Board of Governors meeting in early-June. And if they are shut down, critics fear that it could spawn a huge void. Kristy Cameron chats with Tanya Hill, the President of the Ontario Professional Hairstylist Association, in Hour 2. Meantime, a new report is recommending that the City of Ottawa should ponder a new levy on vehicles, an effort to help fund OC Transpo and O-Train operations. This comes as Leading Mobility warns residents about the potential revenue tools that Canadian cities could use to fill in financial gaps. Principal David Cooper elaborates further.
