Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Mon. March 4th, 2024

View descriptionShare

Over the past few weeks, we have received startling data in regards to the auto theft crisis, and how it has spiked in recent years. Only a few months into 2024, Ottawa Police have been alerted to more than 350 vehicle thefts. The hottest ticket in town for these carjackers is Bay Ward, where 37 cars have been stolen. Theresa Kavanagh, the city councillor for that riding, joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Meantime, Desjardins Group has declared that it won’t be offering new mortgages to residents in high-risk flood zones, a major impact on today’s low-lying communities. Is this Quebec-based trend going to transform into a Canada-wide approach? Will climate change force more providers to make similar decisions? We dig deeper with Frank Napolitano of Mortgage Brokers Ottawa.
