According to the City of Ottawa’s Climate Resiliency Strategy, more than 1-in-3 residents lack the means to stay cool when we get hit with one. As a result, health-related risks for those residents go up. Here in Canada’s Capital, landlords are required by law to ensure that indoor temperatures stay above a minimum Celsius reading in the Winter months. Today, health advocates say we need to implement a similar approach during those humid Summer months, and prevent apartment rooms from turning into saunas.
