The Ottawa Police Service is still saddled with a very serious deficit in 2026 – one that now stands at $22 million. This is mainly due to rising overtime payments to meet minimum staffing levels, as well as costs associated with the hiring of new recruits. In a recent report for the Ottawa Police Services Board’s Finance and Audit Committee, they did find $6.9 million in savings for 2026, but that did little to stem the tide. Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Alta Vista councillor Marty Carr in Hour 2. Re-elected to office earlier this week, she sits on the Ottawa Police Services Board as the Vice-Chair. Plus, re-elected Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe got the most votes in 20 out of 24 wards. Can you guess the 4 wards in which Leiper won the popularity contest? CFRA’s Chris Holski gives you a few seconds to play along – if you wish.
