The Ottawa Police Service has ruled that Wednesday’s afternoon stabbing at a West End grocery store was a hate-motivated crime, as a 71-year-old man from Cornwall faces charges. College Ward councillor Laine Johnson said the disturbing incident has left her community in a state of shock and sadness. She has previously called on the feds to ban the display of certain hate symbols. And while that initiative was successful, Johnson says more action is needed. You’ll hear that conversation in Hour 2. Just before the 4:30 newscast, we are also expecting to hear from Adam Silver, the President of the Jewish Federation of Ontario. But first, we tee up today’s Question of the Day, and take a peek at Friday’s Movie Picks with movie critic Matt Demers.
