Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Tues. June 18th, 2024

View descriptionShare

Andrew Pinsent is filling in for Kristy Cameron this afternoon. At last week’s Transit Commission meeting, we uncovered an interesting nugget about the federal government’s mandatory in-person models. Effective this Fall, public servants would be required to report to their workstation 3 times per week. In turn, this plan could help rescue OC Transpo from its budgetary woes, as it would generate an additional 2.7 million trips per year. River Ward councillor Riley Brockington joins the show in Hour 1. Plus, Ottawa’s Mayor feels confident that Lansdowne’s new arena will be big enough to meet our city’s sporting demands, particularly as PWHL Ottawa tickets sell like hot cakes. The $419 million venue proposal includes a brand-new events centre, with plenty of room to seat 5,500 fans and accommodate 1,000 standing-room spots. A public meeting to discuss those plans will be held at TD Place later tonight.
