From makeup products, to smartphones, to kitchen appliances, the Carney government is planning to hit America with dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs in the coming weeks. If launched on September 8th, this punch-back would impact roughly 700 different American products, and would be imposed on $27.6 billion worth of American imports. The tariffs would vary from 15 percent, to 25 percent, and even 50 percent. However, at the moment, energy-related countermeasures are off the table. Good enough, too far, or too weak?
