According to a new CAA survey, a majority of parents in Ontario are witnessing unsafe driving behaviours in their child’s school zone. 63 percent of surveyed parents have classified their school zones as ‘very unsafe’, which is a 12 percent jump from 2023. Nearly half of the parents in this survey are in favour of reducing school zone speed limits, voicing consideration for 30 km/h as the appropriate cap. At the moment, Ontario school zone speed limits vary between 30 km/h and 40 km/h. Another factor that douses gasoline to this ever-growing fire: An increase in traffic gridlock.
