Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. April 10th, 2025

View descriptionShare

Canada’s retaliatory tariffs could fuel some localized economic consequences, especially for one Ontario business. Sun-Brite Foods Incorporated, a Canadian owned and operated company near Leamington, makes its bread and butter through processed tomatoes. They ship them all around the world. And now, the company’s CEO fears that the price of canned goods will skyrocket, as a lot of their cans are manufactured in U.S. cities. What is 25 cents per can today could soon rise to 40 cents per can tomorrow. Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Sylvain Charlebois, better known as the ‘Food Professor’, in Hour 1. Plus, CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent drops by for a visit, as we put a bow on Day 19 of the federal election campaign. He tells us what’s been going down on the campaign trail.
