Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. June 14th, 2024

View descriptionShare

Andrew Pinsent is filling in for Kristy Cameron today, and we have a busy news cycle to sift through. For starters, more than 400 patients have been forced into Ontario nursing homes that they didn’t want to live in. According to the Canadian Press, the exact number of unhappy discharged patients is 424, albeit among a total list of 20,261 patients that switched long-term care facilities since late-2022. CanAge CEO Laura Tamblyn-Watts said that list of hundreds is a few hundred too many, especially when the refusal to move locations costs such a pretty penny. She joins the show in Hour 1. Meantime, we live in a world where groceries are becoming increasingly unaffordable. One farm in Ottawa is trying to make the produce process easier, delivering the knowledge that consumers need to be able to make informed decisions and even manage their own gardens. River Oak founder Trevor Jameson explains how it works.
