Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. August 29th, 2025

View descriptionShare

Parents at an elementary school in Little Italy are concerned that porta-potties and portables are taking up valuable yard space on school grounds. Louise Arbour Elementary on Beech Street, which is operated by a French public school board, already had 7 portables installed. But for the start of this year’s learning schedule, an eighth portable classroom and a pair of portable toilets have been added. Alison Audet-Smedley has a child in Senior Kindergarten who attends the school. She joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 1. Focusing on the bright side of life, a racecar driver in Eastern Ontario is gearing up for an extraordinary Labour Day Weekend. That's because he is taking part in a NASCAR race! Trevor Hill is the co-owner of the TWOth Autosport racing team in Calabogie, managing drivers in the shop and getting cars ready for raceday. But on Sunday, he’s getting behind the wheel in Bowmanville. Hill lends us a bit of his time, as he prepares for the biggest race of his life.
