Here in Ottawa, traffic safety has been a recurring issue in recent years, but it’s turned into a deeply concerning trend this year. This week alone, we saw 4 fatal crashes involving vehicles and pedestrians, and October has already been one of the most dangerous months on Ottawa’s roads in 2026. And when you peel back the curtain over nearly 10 complete months, Ottawa has seen 32 fatalities in these scenarios. What factors are fueling this spike, and how do we buck the trend?
