The Carney government has introduced a 40-cent increase to the federal minimum wage. Last Wednesday, the hourly rate rose from $17.75 to $18.15. And once October rolls around, Ontario’s minimum wage will also be going up, this time to $17.95 per hour. It’s now an annual increase that is based around the province’s Consumer Price Index, but the cost of living and everyday expenses are making it tougher and tougher to get ahead.
