CFRA Weekends - Once Ottawa's safe consumption sites shutter, is our city equipped to handle the fallout?

View descriptionShare

Over the coming weeks, the Ford government will cease funding for Ottawa’s remaining safe consumption sites – the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre on Nelson Street and a trailer operated by Ottawa Inner City Health at the ByWard Market Shepherds of Good Hope. Earlier this week, Ottawa’s top doctor issued stern warnings to decision-makers and residents alike, fearing that the looming ripple effects could be dire. What should we expect to see once these sites close? Is Canada’s Capital equipped to handle the fallout? Dr. Monty Ghosh is an addiction specialist who works at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, and also teaches at the University of Calgary. He joins Andrew Pinsent on CFRA Weekends.
