As the Ford government safely passed portions of Bill 60, the most controversial proposal has been dialed back. Well, at least for the time being. Rules that were in place to prevent landlords from evicting tenants without a legal reason would have been altered. Month-to-month leases would have also been eliminated if these changes moved forward. And while the recent pushback might have generated short-term relief, critics are renewing calls for additional protections for today’s renters.
